Michael J. Cooper was born November 1, 1951 in Schenectady, New York. His parents relocated to Florida in 1964 and he has lived here ever since. Mike attended the University of Florida where he graduated with honors with a degree in political science. He then attended the University of Florida Law School where he graduated with honors in 1976. While in law school he was a member of the Law Review and a research assistant to Professor Joseph Little. Mike began work in the personal injury insurance defense firm of Adams, Sullivan, Coogler, Watson, and Smith in West Palm Beach, Florida in 1977 through 1979 where he gained invaluable trial experience trough dozens of jury and non-jury trials. In 1979 Mike moved to Ocala, Florida where he formed the partnership of Walkup, Rowe and Cooper engaging in a general practice of commercial and personal injury litigation, real estate and business. In 1985 he moved to his current location where he has successfully continued in his Central Florida practice. Mike is a member of the Marion County Bar Association, The Florida Bar Association, The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, The Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Attorney's Title Insurance Fund and the Southern District, Middle District and Northern District Federal Courts of Florida. Mike has been married for over twenty-three years to Patty and has a daughter, Stacey and a son Jordan. He counts among his hobbies running, biking, swimming, triathlons, literature and the Blues.
